We welcome guest-blogger CruiseMiss to provide live updates of her Caribbean cruise
It’s been a few days now since my first post, so thought I should fill you all in on what’s been happening.
We are “almost” in the Caribbean; we are on sea day number 4 and have one left before we reach Antigua which is then quickly followed by St Lucia, Barbados and Grenada before we get a well needed day of rest with another sea day.
For the last few days the weather has been wonderful, the odd scattered shower but for the most part bright blue skies with temperatures increasing daily... perfect!
I personally love sea days, they give you a chance to relax into holiday mode and on this particular cruise enjoy literally being in the middle of nowhere.
The ship has been pitching and rolling ever so slightly, nothing to make anyone uncomfortable but just enough to remind you, you are in fact on a ship. Anyone that has cruised before knows how easy it is to forget that you are actually on a cruise ship. I like to be reminded every now and then.
Our plan for our first Caribbean port of Antigua is to head towards the market which is just a short walk from the dock; once we satisfy our appetites there we are heading to Dickenson Bay for some beach relaxation and some local cuisine. I will of course send pictures and more blog updates once we really get into the Caribbean vibe but for now, I shall continue to appreciate the tranquillity of my sea days and of course the amazing food onboard.
Last night’s food was very pleasant, a warm chestnut mushroom salad to start which I will say was delicious, followed by grilled chicken for myself and a nice piece of Mahi Mahi for my friend. Tonight we are going for the more laid back atmosphere of the Thai buffet, another favourite of mine whilst onboard P&O ships.
Our officer of the watch told us at noon that we would soon be crossing the Tropic of Cancer. I think we are nearing that point now and the clouds we had earlier today have firmly moved away.
I guess the sunshine marks the ever closing gap between the Caribbean islands and us. I shall update you all very soon! J
